I've had only one other Stanwell in my collection (and that was purchased new) but this one caught my eye for a few reasons - the Reg number (I knew that meant an earlier pipe), and the Hand Made and Hand Cut stamps. The stem was a real challenge as the oxidation was so stubborn.

Full restoration details are here:

Dave (dmcmtk) told me that this Shape 36 was an Ivarsson design and I learned that the shape was also used for a Anne Julie design in the 1970's.

Love it - what a cool pipe! And fantastic job fixing it up, as always.

Love those Sixten designed Stanwell pipes, the great carver doing some industrial design for factory pipes, can't beat 'em. I have the little Stanwell pot by Iversson.

Great job Al, you never disappoint! I've always liked that shape and bought a Dansk pipe like that only rusticated. When I got it, I realized it had been fooled with and had the tenon replaced with a metal tube. The stem never fit right so I ended up selling it. I might start looking about for another one.
