I just picked one of these up on sale for like 45 dollars a couple weeks ago, gave it its first smoke yesterday and it was a dream. No gurgling and never got too hot in my hand. Easy to pass a pipe cleaner thru afterwards.

this is my first new briar purchase after owning cobs and basket estates for the better part of a year. The stanwell outperforms all of the estates on first smoke and seems to be just as easy to smoke as a cob, or nearly at least.

just wanted to make this post to encourage someone like me who had never bought a new briar to take the leap and pick one up. This pipe seems like a great first “named” briar to me. Would reccomend.

I believe that's the good old bulldog 32 shape. I like it so well, I bought two very similar pipes in smooth and silke brune finishes. They're light weight, durable, open draw, and portable.

Exactly. Its the 32. Are stanwells known for an open draw?

A lot of Stanwell pipes are built for a filter, I smoke all of my filter pipes without the filter and without an insert and get a great draw. The ones I have that don’t take a filter also have a nice open draw.. though, there were two or three that I ended up opening up. Those were all from their cheapest line of pipes the brushed brown/black line.

I love Stanwell, the new and the old.

I like Stanwell and Savinelli about equally, but have more Sav's and their sub-brand Rossi. The selection on Sav's is vast, and I like variety. But my Stans are work horses too.
