Hi everyone new member here. I was given this pipe many years ago as a gift. Recently found it and thought I would give pipe smoking a try again I have been smoking cigars for many years. Was hoping someone could provide information about this pipe. I think it had been smoked less than ten times.
Thanks, oldmannk

Welcome to the forum! Do you have any pics of the pipe? Does it have any markings on it? Without pics and markings it'd be pretty hard to say. As of now, all I can tell you is why you already know, that it's a Stanwell and that it's made in Denmark (if it's at least a few years old).

A well known term around these parts...
No pics, it didn't happen :nana:
But give google a shot, if you haven't already. It's how most of us get our info anyways

Stanwells are universally respected pipes, often recommended on Forums, most especially those made in

Denmark, before production was moved to Italy. The designs were created mostly by some of the master

pipe carvers of previous decades, so your pipe is probably one of classic design. It's a great pipe to start

out with and should give you years of good use, maybe a lifetime if you keep it clean and take care of it.

Bryan, for me all I get is a "picture cannot be displayed." I have no helpful hints, I am afraid.

Nice looking Stanwell!
I can't tell anything else about it but I think that Colonial was (is?) one of the Stanwell lines sold in the US market only. Legend is another one. I think there was a third one, as well.
I haven't seen these lines sold in Europe.

I just bought a Stanwell 187 shape this week. It's a Danish Star, so the stem on mine is different. I'll get some pix up later on.
I like the shape a lot, it has a wide, very deep, semi-conical chamber and great draw. Lots of wood around the chamber.
It should smoke well (again, I'll check that out later on!)

I want to thank you all for all of your comments.
All I know is it was a nice gift given to me many years ago. Somehow it was packed away and hadn't been seen for about 15 years. I just found it a few weeks before Christmas go figure. I could never get it to smoke right and started smoking Cigars which I really enjoy. However after reading just about every post on this forum. LOL, Would you know I was doing it wrong all these years. After being educated by this forum. I smoke great. So now I am going to smoke the hell out of it. I am now addicted. I
