Squirrel season has come in. I've been enjoying some beautiful mornings in the woods.
Any other small game hunters around here?

As a kid in South Louisiana I was in the woods limiting out constantly and I’ve busted thousands. I can honestly say that those were the best times spent in the woods and the best hunts in my life.Squirrel season has come in. I've been enjoying some beautiful mornings in the woods.

Offhand with a .22 and getting only clean kills is a fine challenge. A great way to spend time in the woods.
For anyone new to the sqrrrl game ---
Where I hunt the population is evenly divided between grays and reds, so I'd always come home with a mix.
BIG difference in how they cook, though (mentioning it in case you've had squirrel before and didn't like it)
The grays you can treat like chicken. The reds are tough and need something longer. Low and slow. I used to smoke 'em in one of those R2D2 widgets with the water pan in the middle. Liked the result as much as pork.
