I can only speak on the old Yello Bole version but yes they do work.

To begin with, the stem a attached upside down. Given that it was purchased at Needless Markup, otherwise known as Neiman Marcus, the price should come as no surprise.

Oh yeah, they're real. Many companies have released them. They often sell for less than $100, even Savinelli's Punto Oros with that stem.
