He smoked a lot of pipes, the majority, based on photos I saw, straight. However, there's this:

I believe HRH Edward, Price of Wales who I believe the shape is named for smoked a straight pipe. ?

Innertubes were supposedly created as a solution for those didn’t bother to clean after each smoke. After the tube became to narrow to get a good draft, it was taken out, thrown away, and replaced.

One story I read was that innertubes were created for the more effete gentlemen who wouldn’t lower themselves to such a task as cleaning the draft of their pipes.

I owned a 1927 Dunhill that had an original tube, and I smoked it with the tube in place. Never had any problems with the draft...

I'm quite surprised how well this lite pipe smokes , right of the bat, quite amazing,even with the innertube inserted,now I will put this to the rest ,and next time shall try it w/o the innertube,hands down my best prince pipe ever,and over the year I have had these various prince shaped pipes quite a number,,

@paulie66scandinavian I had never heard of Nutten Pipes before, I quite like the look of them. Pretty affordable, too. That Prince is neat, I love the stem!

Recently I had me one of his pipes,very nice and impeccable finished pipes,to note,all Nuttens are done with pretty open draw,(4mm)

Filters, stingers, whatever. None of it is necessary. A wide open draw has no detriments if your cadence is fluid.

beautiful pipe btw. I have a black 1928 double patent FET Dunhill Prince. Amazing to see the shape still carrying on. Much lighter blast these days though.View attachment 10648

Maybe you could lease this pipe to me... for like a year or so
