Often, when I'm reworking a pipe, I'll wonder about its owner. What sort of man was he? What did he think about this pipe? How often did he smoke it? Why has it left him? Did he smoke while working away at something, or sit and meditate with it? What does this pipe tell me about its owner?

This is a Sunrise (Comoy?) Amber Grain #126. I like its size. I particularly like the rim. The pipe is well balanced. Its balance point is right in front of the bowl. Lots of fills. Lots. And lots of wear and tear. After a thorough cleaning inside and out, I worked it with the sanding pad tool to get the balance of the debris off it.

I then spent an inordinate amount of time back-filling the fills. Will SuperGlue adhere your Nitrile gloves to a pipe? Yes. Yes it will! I then colored the stummel with dark brown leather dye. The result is a pipe not as red as it appears in the photos. It's a nice dark brown. I like it, and will probably keep it.
