It keeps my hands busy and I love doing it. Problem is in a year and a half, I’m at 200 pipes now I think. Maybe a bit less, since I’ve been selling some. I sell 2 and buy 3 of course. Here’s a few I finished up this week and the past few. I do a lot of Grabow and Kaywoodies because easy to find ones that need work.

I need to be better about taking before picture though! I forget. Also, I’m trying to get more info on that lovat Treaty Bond pipe. It’s got the Grabow Patent and clearly theirs. A coupon pipe or special deal? I don’t know too much about those yet and not a lot of info on it. It’s a really nice example though. No fills. Nice grain. Not really smoked. That one just needed a light sanding, buffing and stem polish so a light resto there. I decided to smoke this one. Having some Tilbury and Carolina Red Flake that have been packed away for a year. Not too long but tastes nice. It’s a great smoker so I think this one, I’m keeping.

Those look spruce and ready to smoke. Those old Grabows and Kaywoodies are durable and handsome pipes. I don't know if you can pull enough out of them to pay you for your time, but you are certainly preserving some fine parts of pipe history and launching them into the future. As one of our late great members reminded us, when he was working in pipe shops in Manhattan as a teenager, Kaywoodie was the premium pipe to own and cost more than the Dunhills when they were both in easy reach of a young salary man. That's the history you're bringing back.

Love the Zulu. I don’t have any Kaywoodies, but if I get one down the road, it would be like that one. Nice work.

Yeah theyre great. They sourced their own briar too. I never see any with fills. I’ve got a nice churchwarden from the early days this past month. I have about 100 to list on my Etsy site and keep maybe 30 in my rotation. Got a nice meer today I’m looking forward to. Of them all, I really enjoy restoring Kaywoodies for sure.

That’s called the yacht i believe. It is shape #1 for Kaywoodie! It’ll be on my Etsy site sometime in the next week or so. I just haven’t had time. Homeschooling my son and working too. Never enough time. :) I do all the stems by hand too. It takes like 2 hours each. I have a wheel lol. No start with sandpaper if need toor files etc. but then it’s micro mesh for a long time. Obsidian oil. Then I’ll lightly buff and carnauba wax them. I def put more time into stems than anything. But I’m usually watching you tube pipe stuff or a show while doing that.

Great job on those pipes - love your work on the stems especially. I wish I had your patience and application
Thanks. I am a fidgety person. I can’t just sit still and watch tv or for anything. It keeps my hands and head busy so patience isn’t even a thing I guess. Except watching endless how to videos and articles. Lol. I did a 45 Dr. Grabows video actually a couple weeks ago foe the YTPC. It’s on YouTube. Central Coast Briars. I restored most of those. I’m selling most of the pipes to really put it towards a lathe so I can make more myself. That’s the plan at least. I’ve got enough that if I sold most itll cover a nice size one. I love restoring but really love shaping.
