Seems like the 1% latakia in what I gather are burley blends is used in a similar way as it's used in Fillmore. Adds liveliness?

I don't generally like latakia in any quantity, but I don't mind it in DCC. As mentioned, the amount is very small, and Ernie processes it in some way (he calls it "tempering") that really cuts the creosote edge down. For something similar with no latakia, try Stubb's Pipe.
