I was in Chicago last week and had the chance to pay a visit to Iwan Ries. Wow. Awesome place, and the lounge is to die for. Anyway I managed to snag a Dunhill Root Briar Billiard with saddle bit.

The nomenclature has been buffed off so I got a good deal on this pipe. The model number is still there as 659 and there is a circle and a barely readable number 4. But the dunhill and made in England appears to have been buffed off. I suspect it's 1969 though as we were talking and the guy in the shop mentioned most of the estates they had coming in lately were from the 60s.

Very nicely done, weak buffed nomenclature detracts very little from the since it speaks volumes due to condition, etc. enjoy it for many years and great smokes!

Nice snag. the others are right and I've seen Dunhills with very weak stamping. Bottom line is f you like it and it smokes well you're a winner. enjoy.
