I have a nice old handmade wooden desk, and I store my pipes and accessories in one of the drawers. Lately when I buy things that have those silica packets in them, I'll toss the silica packets into this drawer. The idea is that the wooden drawer and silica packets help keep humidity low.
Any chance I'm damaging the pipes by doing this? The packets don't touch the pipe or chamber or anything like that, but I'm wondering if this might create too dry an atmosphere, which could cause a pipe to warp/crack.
