This is a difficult conundrum; I'd get around it by grabbing my pipe drawer which holds my 21 favourite in use pipes!

I like all of those pipes so much that my 'favourite' is whichever one I am smoking :)

Which, right now is .... this bad boy tanshell ---->

The one in my hand at the time I was forced from my home I suppose, I' guessing something terrible has occurred so I really doubt smoking tools would be on my mind.
^^^^^ This
Much as I love my pipes, there are other things much more important in a crisis.
Also standing there looking at the collection and trying to decide is not a good use of valuable time 😁

My Peterson 309
It’s been with me since 1990 and traveled with me to Saudi Arabia, Israel, Honduras, Haiti, Korea, Bali, Canada, Bahamas, Mexico and 39 States. She’s survived 2 marriages, a career, kids, grandkids, loss of parents, 2 branches of service and numerous other events.
It’s not worth much to anyone else but to me it’s extremely valuable.

Yeah, that makes sense that that would be the one. That a lot of life you've lived with that pipe in your possession.

I keep my pipes in a shoe box so I could grab the whole thing if I had to evacuate but my main concern in an emergency would be family members, financial papers, wallet, car keys etc like a normal sane person, not pipes. But assuming not an emergency situation and to try to answer the question reasonably, my most cherished (however you define that) pipe is my irreplaceable Erica (Peterson second) XXL handmade because it just the best smoking pipe I own and my Peterson straight billiard meerschaum which has been appropriated by family as a remembrance of a great grandmother who spent summers on the Isle of Mann as a child. While I like my other pipes very much they are just pipes and don't have any sentimental attachment. None of them do but the above two would be missed more than not.

I would have to say it is this J Alan, especially since it was a gift from a close business associate. It is the only pipe I still keep in its bag in my display case.

Similar to what PaulRVA said above, I purchased this Dunhill Cumberland in the late 80's when I was just out of high school and it traveled with me many places around the world with the Army and on my person in general. I've given it some extended breaks while at home, but every time I go somewhere it ends up in my pouch.

I dont have any with sentimental value. However, at the moment it is this Kai Nielsen. Aside from liking the appearance, it has one of the best draws of any of my pipes. Smooth and even in a way that is hard to describe. I have other Kai pipes. They are all very good but something about this one is different. It was a dream smoke from the first bowl.

Ive made handmade saxophone mouthpieces for 20 years. I have learned that among handmade items, and even those that are machine made, there is variance. Some pieces are just special for no measurable reason. Of course someone else may find it not so special and consider one of my others more special...you cant leave the user out of the equasion.
