The industry is on a steep decline, but there's always room to support local or small craft breweries when they aren't terrible. The wife and I just hit up Kite Hill, a local joint in Clemson in hopes of them monkey stomping UGA next Saturday. Pictured is their Dragonslayer, a Czech style dark lager.

My favorite local brewery is Tox Brewing in New London, CT. One of the owners is a professor of Toxicology so all the beers have Toxic or Medicinal names and their logo, as you can see, is a poison dart frog. This is Black Widow Stout which is one of my favorite. Cool taster glass too!

This is another favorite, Placebo Effect Cream Ale. Great summer beer! They also work with a great local artist for some crazy labels!

I feel like I've had some of their offerings before. Prior to my current career I did a stint in alcohol retail at Total Wine and I believe they used to ship to SC.

Unfortunately, everything our local brewery makes tastes like it's infected - it's crap. Fortunately, I have friends that brew for fun and make far superior brews, and overall, there are some great ones in the state.

Man! That looks refreshing!............. I've been on a (6-8 years??) West Coast IPA journey and I haven't even thought about cream ales. I need to revisit that style while it's still hot here in Ohio. Thanks for reminding me of this style

I’d give my first born for a West Cast IPA! Being in CT, all we see is New England Hazy. For me, they have their place, but the dominate the beer menus here. They are cheap and fast to make and everyone wants them. The guy at the local brewery says Hazy keeps the lights on and lets us do fun shit.

I don't have pictures, but I'm in Austin, TX and we have a lot of really good beer.

Meanwhile Brewing is my personal favorite for most styles. They are masters of the craft. Their Oktoberfest this year is unreal.

Pinthouse Pizza makes my favorite Hazy IPA (maybe my favorite beer, period) Training Bines. They also make the best West Coast IPA I've had with Scorpion Disco.

Zilker Brewing makes Icy Boys which is an amazing American Light Lager as well as Marco IPA which is a malty delight.

Lazarus Brewing combines alcohol and Jesus. Great beer with one of the best spots in the city with their new location.

Oddwood Brewing makes the only Rauchbier that I've ever liked. They also always have Farmhouse and Sours that are really good. The KG BBQ food truck is a definite plus.

Austin Beerworks has Pearl Snap (not my favorite Pils but it's a local favorite), Flavor Country (an amazingly hoppy but easy drinking Pale), and Fire Eagle...an IPA that is unlike anything else I've ever had in a very good way.

Jester King is for when you want to get out of the city. It's out in the hill country and they specialize in Sours and Farmhouse styles. Getting drunk while hanging out with goats out in the hill country is a great experience. Pipe friendly as well.

KC’s Boulevard SaisonBrett is the best beer I have ever had. Unfortunately it is about $10 a bottle.

Hyperlocal craft brew made in my garage. This was brewed in honor of my cousin Jim Robinson's 75th birthday. He grew up in the same Chicago suburb as me, but has lived most of his life in Door County, Wisconsin, the "thumb" of the state. It's an Irish ale because he said he likes Smithwick's.

Our shared ancestors, the Walter Robinson family, emigrated from Donegal, Ireland to Chicago in 1856, shortly after the Irish Potato Famine and before the Great Chicago Fire. Somehow, they survived these calamities and here I am to prove it. It was a hit at his birthday party, so I brewed a second batch and bottled some to give him as a gift. The rest is at home being served via a traditional hand pump in my brewhouse/garage.

Wow. I'd forgotten all about them, but Boulevard used to ship to SC as well and I remember loving their darks. I haven't seen their selections in several years now.
