Shaking off the doldrums

It was probably a year ago I went on pipe maker Sam Adebayo's website to view his pipes, galleries and photos of his workshop. There was one photo that stuck out in my mind and that was the one called coming soon.
The pipe bowl with black bamboo shank sitting on his workbench (second in from the right) caught my eye.

I contacted Sam to inquire if it were a commission awaiting completion or would it be for sale once completed. Sam told me he was getting some rustication equipment and it was waiting for that to arrive and once completed to his satisfaction it would be for sale. I asked that if there was nobody else in the queue for the pipe would he contact me.
About 6 months later Sam sent me an email with a photo of the completed pipe and asked if I were still interested. I inquired on the price and immediately told him I'd take it.

Today with the weather being dismal and making one needing a reason to smile I grabbed Sam's creation and filled it with the 39 y/o Mac Bare Dark Twist Roll Cake (God I'm going to miss that when it's gone!) and filled it.
It smokes like a dream and managed to take my mind off everything save how sublime the tobacco was and how wonderfully the pipe smoked. Definitely keeping it smokey.

An exceptionally nice pipe for sure. I'm not a huge fan of bamboo, but it definitely works on that one.

I know you have a penchant for bamboo, since I've seen many of your acquisitions sport it.

I've read various posts about the durability of bamboo, and that it is often lined with a metal tube.

Do most of your bamboo shanked pipes have this reinforcement? Does THIS one?

It looks almost too delicate to be durable, but it does look fantastic!
