TL;DR at the bottom...

Here I am again guys. Thanks everyone for indulging my last post Seeking Red Virginias. Several folks mentioned that what I was looking for would be tough to come by and that I should not confine myself to strictly Red Virginia, and you are right.

I appreciate everyone watching me bumble my way through Virginias, trying to find out what I actually like. Truth be told, I was always a burley man. I have a large amount of various burleys, mundane and special, but Virginias are somewhat new to me. Back in 22' I got covid twice and lost all sense of taste and smell, and it became too depressing trying to smoke. I regained taste and smell in mid 23', but have only smoked my pipes occasionally, with some cigars intermixed.

But a several months ago I took up the briar in force once again, and I find that I'm enjoying my Virginias more and more. Popped a tin of 2021 CRF as well as 2021 CRF&P and promptly burned through both of them and absolutely loved the experience.

I actually just got my Edisto today, and it's okay but not exactly what I'm looking for. After smoking a bowl of that, now I think I'm getting closer to knowing what it is I'm looking for.

TL;DR: Seeking Straight Virginias and VaPers, with and without Reds, that lean towards the tangy/tart fruity side, and that also have some decent vitamin N strength. Obviously they don't have to have a lot, but after smoking a large bowl of Edisto and PS Luxury Navy Flake, my nicotine receptors are definitely left wanting. As I remember, both the CRF and CRF&P both had just the right respectable amount of nicotine strength. I don't mind mold flavoring/topping as long as it's in line with the taste of Virginia itself, tangy/bright/fruity. Would rather not have other leaf like orientals or Latakia and such. Also I live in the US, and I'm definitely looking for blends that are fairly easy to procure. Thanks for your patience.

Definitely give Bayou Morning Flake a shot. It’s a VaPer but it’s quite different than most of the figgy, raisin, sweetness typical of other VaPers in my opinion. To me it’s darker, still a nice red fruit kind of thing but more on the fermented and tangy side. Also quite strong compared to other blends.

At tis point in time it's hard to know what's still in production, but the first of these is made by STG. STD, so possibly. I'm not going to worry about whether it's strictly Red Virginia and Perique.

Maybe consider Ken Byron’s Acadian Flek!

I also appreciated Boswell’s Private Stock as it was a solid VaPer with stewed fruit.

Lastly, I do not own but maybe the “new” series of Hunter blends by Nording could be something to try as they have a VaPer.

I bought 2. Just waiting until I get around to smoking it. I am anticipating it greatly!

If it is the red va you are truly after, I would look into Pease Embarcadero. It is a VaOr, but the reds are deep and delicious and I find the Oriental masterfully applied. I'm not normally a fan of Pease or C&D, but there are some blends they do very well. C&D Bijou is another one. After one tin, I cellared it deeply, with some 20 tins saved back. Same with Embarcadero - I have several pounds in the convenient 8oz tins.

I would also keep an eye on Watch City Cigar - Rouxgaroux and Simply Red are outstanding, although you have to be quick to buy when they're released.
