Hi everyone,

I'm from Southern California (Inland Empire) and I've been smoking a pipe for a little over a year now. I got into pipe smoking after wanting more from cigars. What initially drew me into the hobby were all the different pipes and, if I'm being honest, the price of pipe tobacco when compared to cigars.

What's kept me in the hobby is still the pipes but more so all the amazing blends of pipe tobacco out there. I really enjoy keeping a spreadsheet of all the tobacco I buy and even cellaring some of it.

Also, it's a great practice in mindfulness to savor a cup of coffee or tea, read a book, and fire up my pipe. All in all it's a great hobby for me and I'm happy to be here amongst like-minded folks.

Hope you all have a terrific and memorable holiday season.

Firstly I think I heard you stalking about the other night. It might have been another tubby ninja but it certainly was one of you guys.
Yeah pipes kick ass especially when compared to cigars. I pretty much smoke a small tin of cigars a year and the occasional gift cigar. Fun thing still can usually tell the country of origin with most cigars even though I barely smoke them now.
Pipes are interesting in the fact that yes it's a drug (tobacco makes me feel good and really bad if I don't have any) but it requires a certain type of gentle low impact focusing that promotes what psychologists call a state of flow (the traditional tea ceremony works on a similar process, non-intoxicating mildly stimulating drug and easy focus).
Oh and we are far from like minded here. More like a herd of cats, but we all like pipes and pretending to be gentlemen and that's good enough.
As far as your holiday wish you should amend it to account for the chronic alcoholics here. Who will have a terrific holiday if they don't remember a bit of it. (that's just a tasteless joke).
