Uh, maggots are what I thought of, too, though my recent experience with them was nothing like Warrern's, thank God. The shapes on the pipe look very little like a Seagull's, or any other bird for that matter.

I find the pipe to certainly not be my type. Sorry for hijacking also! Although one last tinsey bit.

I was a city PD officer in Anchorage, retiring as a Captain. For a while I was the only available diver to the various departments and the Troopers. Did body recovery all over the State. The maggot story involved a plane crash, bears arrived first, took a week to locate the crash site.

warren, I was stationed at Ft. Rich with the 1/501 Parachute Infantry Regiment (PIR) from 98 to 02. Anchorage is interesting moose running down the main roads, some rather dodgy areas, Muldoon road comes to mind for some reason. Being a cop there, especially in the 70s, must have been one hell of a ride! I do dive as a civilian and as such with my active imagination I picture diving in the cold and dark and did I mention cold my hat is off to you. Even in a dry suit that is cold! But the summers after break up has dried up it cannot be beat. Gorgeous country!!
