Not sure if anyone else has lived this nightmare, but the Kampala Pipe Club, which consists of me and anyone who drops by to smoke pipes at my house on Thursday nights, is facing some grim realities:
We are at the end of the good tobacco.
So, this week I scraped together the final bits – some Old Dublin, Bengal Slices White, Father Dempsey, Spark Plug, Pirate Kake, and Arango Balkan Supreme.
After this has gone up in smoke, we will be smoking a long-neglected pouch of Borkum Riff Cherry Liqueur – the only pipe tobacco I have found (once) for sale in East Africa, and that at the Karen Provision Store – a colonial era supermarket that defies modernity.
So, say a prayer for us as you light up tonight.
Fortunately, I am traveling to the US this summer, so I will stock up. If anyone would like to make a donation of any tobacco you no longer want, I’m happy to pay shipping costs and the Kampala Pipe Club thanks you in advance.
PS. In case you were curious, this was a mighty fine blend – I might make it again and send some to JimInks to review!
