Not sure if anyone else has lived this nightmare, but the Kampala Pipe Club, which consists of me and anyone who drops by to smoke pipes at my house on Thursday nights, is facing some grim realities:

We are at the end of the good tobacco.

So, this week I scraped together the final bits – some Old Dublin, Bengal Slices White, Father Dempsey, Spark Plug, Pirate Kake, and Arango Balkan Supreme.20250428_182804.jpg

After this has gone up in smoke, we will be smoking a long-neglected pouch of Borkum Riff Cherry Liqueur – the only pipe tobacco I have found (once) for sale in East Africa, and that at the Karen Provision Store – a colonial era supermarket that defies modernity.

So, say a prayer for us as you light up tonight.

Fortunately, I am traveling to the US this summer, so I will stock up. If anyone would like to make a donation of any tobacco you no longer want, I’m happy to pay shipping costs and the Kampala Pipe Club thanks you in advance.

PS. In case you were curious, this was a mighty fine blend – I might make it again and send some to JimInks to review!

Ok -- I did not know when I wrote this that Borkum Riff Cherry Liqueur was the worst rated tobacco of any tobacco with more than 50 reviews on tobbacoreviews!

The nightmare intensifies.

To those of you sending me something for the stock -- thank you! I'll be in the US around mid-June.

In terms of sourcing here, no dice. I explored that long ago. British American Tobacco does have a cigarette operation here, but they are an agricultural producer, not a commercial outlet, so unless I purchase by the metric tonne...

🤔

... although that would resolve our shortage indefinitely...

Let me change the title of this thread to "Running out of Mason Jars"

Cheers!

Funny because Africa is a major modern tobacco producer, but that means little as it is shipped abroad for processing and packing…

Im not a daily puffer so I pretty much just smoke the good stuff, but I’ve always said a pouch of over the counter aro would be MUCH appreciated on a dessert island it’s perfectly good, however, a pouch of Borkum Riff cherry might be pushing that narrative😂😂😂

You may find a good tobacconist near where your plane lands. When I used to travel I would always scout ahead. Have a nice trip and welcome. :)
