Yeah, at $17.55/tin. The reviews of the original are not promising, so unless C&D (the blender of this iteration) has done something dramatic to improve the recipe, it's a hard pass for me.

The new version is supposed to have perique. I don't remember the original having any perique, so it may have a different taste profile.
I saw that release, email I think from SP. I remember smoking the original in the 80's and didn't particularly like it that much. I don't recall Perique in the original not that I would necessarily remember at this point. Kinda guessing it is a 'name only' release at this point.
I may pick up a tin, but Milan Tobacconist version of Royal Comfort is very good. I have over a pound of that in the cellar. You can buy it in bulk for a lot less money.
The Milan Royal Comfort is a light aromatic that I taste a light caramel favor. There isn't any strong flavor, just a nice, every day, all day smoke. It fits into the Prince Albert, Carter Hall, SWR category. Kinda nice just to have around.
Not many people even REMEMBER that Royal Comfort existed.
So, a new formulation in the release will not harm things.
But honestly, I dont think it will beat out bulk purchases of Nutty Irishmen any time soon.

God, I must be old. I remember when it was first released and the commercial that was aired on TV.

But i do admit, i understood the jokes in The Rockford Files rather well.
I’m not against it, but based on the reviews of previous version I’ll wait to see what everyone else says before trying it.
