Brother Wayne Kramer, guitarist for the MC5, passed away from pancreatic cancer at 75.
The MC5 were a garage, proto-punk band from Detroit. A "brother" band to [Iggy and the] Stooges, the MC5 were loud and energetic with a sound that was meant to hear live. Taking elements of blues and psychedelic rock infused with Motown groove, the MC5 is helped to establish the sound of Detroit Rock City.
I strongly recommend Kick Out the Jams to get introduced to the sound or rekindle your love with the MC5.
And now it's time to kick out the jams.
