R. Lee "Gunney" Ermy passed today at age 74. Reportedly due to complications from pneumonia. I had the pleasure of meeting him once.

R. Lee Ermey died of pneumonia? I don't think so. Former Marine Ermey was simply orechestrating a counterattack. Pneumonia, your days are numbered.

He was a great guy. I met him at Camp Perry a number of years ago and had the pleasure of explaining to him how the Garand matches functioned. He was inquisitive, polite and friendly, as if he had already known you for years.
R.I P., Gunny.

I remember him as Dr. Gregory House's "father" in House, M.D. If I recall correctly, Dr. House described Mr. Ermey's characer John House as a man with, "...an insane moral compass."
Thank-you for your service to our country. Rest in peace, Sir!

I watched Full Metal Jacket when I was 10 years old. His character scared the crap out of me, and deep down is probably the reason I never entered the military. LOL He was a good guy, and he'll be missed by many. May he Rest In Peace.
