Apparently it was a rare and aggressive type of cancer and wasn’t diagnosed very long ago.
Recorded with Miles Davis and many others at that level. RIP
a really great musician. Was reading that he very much looked to, among others, the great Keith Jarrett ( If you have never Jarrett play (trio, solo and/or classical) take some time and listen to the Koln Concert. There are musical phrases in the concert which frequently waft through my mind and have for more decades than I care to admit.)
No shit...wow. I saw him with Al Di Meola and Stanley Clark way back when, a concert I'll never forget.
