EDIT: Fixed Capitalization in Title (See Rule 9)

Hello there, I'm a newbie pipe smoker. I got this pipe for my birthday a while back, recently all I can taste from it is burnt wood even though I smoke slowly and with patience. It seems to heat up faster. I might have scraped off the cake accidentally.1594377066553..jpg1594376962353..jpg
How can I restore it? 1594376826017..jpg1594376826017..jpg1594376909372..jpg1594376934600..jpg

Are you referring to the bowl or chamber being burned?

1) How often do you clean it?

2) Wipe out the mortise with an alcohol soaked Q-tip.

3) Pack the tobacco much more loosely.

Remember when you light the pipe, you are just holding the flame above the tobacco and sucking heat in. If you are holding the flame too far down, it won't matter how nice you make the rim look, it will burn again.

I would try rubbing it with some wet paper towel. Most of it might come off. You can then move to a micromesh pad if you like.

Did the OP leave the building?

If not, did you receive the pipe in that condition? Needs a reaming; the rest is aesthetics. (Besides a deep cleaning perhaps.)
