A week or so ago I rehydrated a chunk of Pirate Kake that has been sitting around for a bit. Well a long bit given the price tag was $8.95 for 50g. In Canada that's over ten years ago at least. Anyway, I have been smoking VA all week and really enjoying it. I was an English smoker for years but found the Pirate Kake to be very one dimensional. Anyone else get this or do you think it might have something to do with the rehydration. I can't remember what it used to taste like.

I can't really speak to the Pirate Kake question but I rehydrated an ounce of Old Joe Krantz and it took on a Gwaith-like soapiness. And it tried to bite me. Did you come across the soapiness? Maybe I need more moisture.

No soapiness just very one dimensional Latakia flavour. I'm thinking being dryed out for so long it could have lost it's topping.
