I do enjoy the Bosweel aromatic tobaccos, have purchased a few tins from a friend here in Brazil, that brought them from the US recently. My concern is that the Boswell tins do not seem to be very safe for long term storage (let´s use 1-2 years for the sake of discussion). Should I transfer the tobacco to mason jars? Or would the tins keep it ok for a while (without opening them, of course)?

Even tins that should hold up to aging occasionally fail. If you aren’t opposed to it, I think the safest bet would be to jar them.

You are correct; they are not meant for cellaring. He mentions that on his website. If you want to keep them, put them in a jar. Happy smoking!

With the amount of tobacco I have been purchasing in the last year, it will take me some time to go through those Boswells. I might as well follow the advice and jar them . With the added benefit of trying each one of them in the process… Thanks guys.

I have a tin of Boswell's Northwoods that has been opened for 3 years, and stored with a lot of opened tins in a wooden box and in a large cupboard.
No discernible drying out. And certainly no deterioration in flavour that I am aware of.
I suspect that it may have PG in it.
