Proper Storage of Tins

I have a few tins of my favorites stored away. Something that just occurred to me though was whether it was alright to store them in a vertical position? Some I have lying flat (horizontal) but depending on the box I used to put them in, some fit better vertically.

Does it matter if a tin is stored for a few years vertically or horizontally? Is horizontal better?

In my experience I have had no problems with the tins that lay on their sides as compared to the ones that lay flat. I have hundreds of tins in each position.

I don't think it makes a difference (resisting the urge to say that I store my tins horizontally).

I've stacked them on the shelf vertically for the last 7 years without a problem. I don't think it makes a difference.

unless they were getting squished sideways I don't think it will make a difference.
Most shops have them sit on their sides...
