A blemish has appeared in the finish of one of my new Peterson bulldogs. It looks as though its lifting under the clear coat. This is quite a let down as I've only smoked it about a dozen times. Any suggestions ?

Yep, a Fermoy, I guess it doesn't take much heat as I've been being careful while breaking it in. No problems with my Ebony Killarney Bulldog that I got at the same time, fingers crossed though. Is that the Fermoy series?
Some of the very best pipes have several very thin coats of shellac, sanded and/or buffed in between, finished with carnauba wax and lots of buffing. When done right, you'd not even think it had such a background!Lacquer? Clear coat? Shellac? I thought pipe makers were only supposed to use wax?
