It really shouldn't be a problem. I'm well used to it. But do get tired next day. However, I found something interesting tonight. Problem with not being able to fall a sleep leads to being hungry. And once I part take in middle of the night snack, it will keep me awake further until I get hungry again. It becomes a vicious cycle of hunger and insomnia. Too late to get some stuff drink to knock myself out. Might as well skip the sleep.

All I can say is, if you think it is in any way related to possible sleep apnea (not that anybody has said that) it is well worth investigating and trialling sleep apnea machines etc.

Just from personal experience - I can't recommend them enough, absolutely life savers.

Again, nobody has mentioned it but it is worth saying just from my own experience.

Now saying that I usually average 6 hours sleep purely because I have trouble putting myself to bed earlier due to wanting to have as much leisure time as possible before work starts again.
But that 6 hours on a machine felt better than 8 hours without.

I usually go to bed before 10 and wake around 3-4, but go back and wake at 6. I do not eat of drink anything but water after 6:30pm.

Exercise is important

Eating a high sugar snack gets your insulin levels up leading to more hunger.

I have used benaryl for years since learning it was in a popular night time tylenol combination.

I do nothing but sleep in the bed room and have a cooling mattress.

Sleeping with just a shirt and underwear might help as it keeps you cooler than lots of clothing.

I'd just suggest mixing things up a bit until you find what works.

I’m 42 and started having sleep issues 3 years ago. I fall right to sleep in seconds but, around 2/3 in the morning I’m wide awake. I noticed if I have one glass of whiskey, those nights I awake. I’ve tried different things but still awake. I’m getting around 3 to 4 hours of sleep. It seems to me though, all the men I talk to around my age has this problem. ?

I'm a very light sleeper and wake up often in the middle of the night. We have a loose floorboard that creaks just as you enter our bedroom. If the cat walks into the room and steps on that floorboard, I'm awake. I average about 5 hours of sleep a night.

I took CBD gummies for a couple of weeks and I slept great. I need to get more.

That worked for me at first but then seem to not

Been like this since high school. Sleeping was always problem. No breathing problem and I'm lucky if I weight more than 155 at 5' 10". Caffeine works occasionally. CBD didn't work after awhile. Alcohol works, if I drink enough. Supplements don't work. Benadryl works if I remember to take it, sometime. I'll takes some Benadryl after dinner and see.

I tried sleeping with one of those sound machine. I set it at Babbling Brook and it was relaxing...only problem I had to keep getting up to pee. Just kidding. Seriously, I did try a sound machine. No matter what sound I set it at, didn't help.

Ah yes, add me to the list. Insomnia is fucking horrible, it affects every aspect of ones life. Definitely don't want to get hooked on pills but when exercise and supplements don't work, not much of an option. I take 75mg of Benadryl with 12mg of melatonin each night, sometimes it works but most of the time it doesn't. I will take Ambien/Lunesta from time to time but I have to really be careful to cycle it otherwise it will eventually make sleeping without it an impossibility.

My vet told me that there was a recent study linking Benadryl with Alzheimer's, I haven't researched this but if that's true, I'm fucked!

I wouldn't wish insomnia on my worst enemy.

I have often heard that alcohol has as early benefical effect. but like you, it causes long term sleep problems after it wears off, I suspect.

Sleep issue can be remedied. Robust walking, eating healthy, and dealing with stress can help. The problem is when you are 42, you're just getting into the most stress of your life.

Wait until about an hour before retiring for the evening. Taking it on a full stomach may deminish the effect.
