Prince Albert is obviously one of the most popular old-time blends, and I need some right now. PA, as it is frequently referred to, sometimes gets disrespected as an inexpensive “drug store” tobacco, or a 1-dimensional pipe tobacco without a lot of different subtle nuances that many other blends have.
So, why do I need some PA right now?

There's a CVS on the corner that I can see from my balcony, but they only stock Captain Black, which I already have. Instead of opening the new Carter Hall, I realized I had an opened Sir Walter Raleigh, and I am smoking it now.

Kevin: I recently ordered some Billy Budd based on the strength of the reviews at tobaccoreviews.com. I haven't tried it yet, but I'm planning to soon when I get through some others I have opened. I understand it's supposed to be a real kick in the ass! :puffy:

For great old time flavor you don't have to think about The Prince and Sir Wally Can't be beaten. THOUGH! I am about ready to review H&H Steamroller. Buttkickingly nice! Very old school high octane tobacco.

I had some Billy Budd that Bob gave me and it was over a year old and I loved it.
Then I got a new tin, and it is VERY strong. It was too strong to smoke during the day if you have anything to do.
So I let the new tine site for a couple of months. It mellows out a little with age, and I like it better that way, however, it is still pretty strong with only a couple months of age on it. I still have to smoke it late at night.

Kevin: Thanks for the feedback...maybe I'll let my BB age a little before opening then. I've got a few other English blends to try out for the first time as well...Dunhill London Mixture, GLP Maltese Falcon & Caravan...I think I'll open those first.

Nice article Kevin. I have honestly never tried PA. I remember my grandfather smoking it when I was a kid. I may have to stop and get some tomorrow.

PA is a good honest smoke--no frills, nothin' to really search for--just smoke it and enjoy yourself-
my favorite is SWR mainly for nostalgic reasons i suppose; it was the first blend i bought--(still have the freebie willard pipe that was a premium with the tobacco--that was my first briar also)
i could live having only one or the other blend--having both would be even better--
