Hello everyone,

I introduce myself: I am birrozzo, and Italian. I started smoking pipe in 2012; please, help for dating and evaluate a pipe!

This pipe Stanwell, bought by me several years ago; it seems that the pipe is NOT a Pipe of the Year .. then .. please someone tell me what kind of Stanwell is? Premise that the silver plate has no incisions.

THANK'S

You need to upload them something such as Photobucket and from there copy the image link and place it in your post. This link helped me lots. Once they're up I'd be surprised if someone couldn't help with more info.

Photobucket is poor, but it will work.
All images show just fine, and the link to the standing instructions is confusing and daunting. Do they not show for you now, beehive?

Stanwell Sandblasted Bent Dublin with Silver, pre-2010, but sometime in the last 15 years probably. The plaque is for custom engraving

You might get a little premium if the pipe is made in Denmark, not designed in Denmark and made in Italy, although I think the Italy made pipes are excellent. I'd guess about $100, if it's made in Denmark, and $75 if Italy. This is an up-market Stanwell, but the prices were lowered when the plant moved to Italy and that might depress the price of the Denmark made pipes a little. Just guessing. Shop estate pipes and new pipes and ebay and see what is being asked.

The pipe is certainly earlier than 2000 and is Made in Denmark, as the markings actually indicate.

So it's not a pipe of the year, but always has a good evaluation.

Thank you all!!

Hello birrozzo and welcome to this great pipe forum!
The Danish made Stanwell pipes of the year (which I believe yours is but for some reason, got through their factory without being stamped), were very nice pipes using their highest quality wood and the smooth pieces were in the $300 range at retail. If yours remains in unsmoked condition then I believe it is a $150-$175 pipe on the current market. I've sold many of these sandblasted Danish made POY's on eBay in previously smoked, and in very good condition pieces for between $100-$125 on average. I love the blast on yours. Am not sure what collectors would think without the year plate having been etched. And again, I may be wrong, but as far as I know, Stanwell did not make a series of pipes with a blank silver plate on the side, unless perhaps they had a line of pipes where the buyer could have his/her name added, if desired.
Again, welcome!

First of all, welcome. A few thousand of your closest friends are glad you're one of us. Next: older Stanwells have a better reputation than the newer ones, since they moved production to Italy. I'm a Stanwell lover, my first one being a shape number 10, designed by Sixten Ivarssen, which I acquired in 1969. Still one of my favorites.

I have seen a few on the estate market with blank plates...it my not be too uncommon. That is a very beautiful pipe for sure!
