I know my post takes this in another direction, but I read "Pirate Music" and this jig-style song by Calle 13 popped into mind. Aguante literally means "to hold" [i.e. Aguantar un lápiz. = To hold a pencil.], but here he uses it in all it's connotations. "To endure, to bear, to stand, put up with, to stomach, tolerate, weather it out, etc. The chorus translates as:

"For what was, for what could've been,

for what there is, for what still may happen,

for what may come, and for this instant,

lift up your glass and let's toast to the aguante!"

So now that I know what a 'Parrothead' is I am less disappointed in this thread. Not really a fan of Jimmy Buffet... his music at least. Do like his restaurants however.
