I thought my computer screen might explode or ThoughtPolice helicopters would appear outside my window, but apparently this outrageous example of personal choice was somehow given the OK by the Discovery Channel people.

I'm sure there will be some sort of hardcore riot-demonstration display of outrage outside their corporate offices in the days to come (the episode was just released), but a few minutes of victory is still a victory.

It's a competition show about guys who make knives and swords the old fashioned way, with a forge, a hammer, and a hella strong arm.

The pipe smoker guy won (of course). 👍

Here he is talking to the camera crew between sessions of bashing on the anvil:

Interesting. This guy makes his own weapons, but appears to be smoking what looks like a basket pipe.

Other recent pipe sighting - "Being Mary Tyler Moore" - Ted Knight holding a pipe in the final show of "The Mary Tyler Moore Show". Already PC at that point, I don't think he was ever shown smoking a pipe.
Didn’t see anything about pipes but he was one kool dude.

I spotted a pipe in a RV commercial the other day. Check it out.
Oh, that's a beaut. The color is awesome. Nice size too. He looks quite handsome with it! I got one just like it when I was a teenager, one of my first.

Didn't keep it though, threw it back in and cast my line back out.

I tend to watch a lot of westerns, old martial arts films and bad sci-fi movies all of which have constant pipe smoking, suppose I’m just used to it and it’s not a big deal.
In "A Face in the Crowd," Walter Matthau's character smokes a pipe throughout the movie, as does Paul Scofield who plays Mark Van Doren in "Quiz Show."

For some reason I read the thread title as

Pig Spotted in the Wild... on TV!!!

Which left me wondering what these wild and crazy kids in Kansas City are up to again.

Nah, in KC, we just eat 'em.

Live pigs runnin' around and tearin' shit up? That's a Texas thing:
