Hello Johnnyreb! So very pleased to know that you find my book informative and illustrative of that very special four-year conflict. I thought long and hard as to whether I ought to craft such an account -- American history is not my forte -- but seeing the number of praiseworthy comments about it of late, I think that I have a "hit" among some pipe people. A number of these pipes, as you say, are remarkable in their craftsmanship, and to think that they were carved under duress and in an uncomfortable setting speaks volumes about their skill and diligence. Now, I anxiously await whatever the community of Civil War memorabilia collectors think of it.
