I agree a pear root write up would be interesting.
I know that Mr Brog offers Pear Wood pipes, so I may have to snag one and do a review. Anyone else know anywhere that I can find a pear wood pipe, or any other pipe made out of any other wood than briar for that matter.

I just wanted to give this article a bump for anyone who has not had a chance to read it yet, as well as bring up something interesting that I have heard about. I recently saw a youtube video in which someone made a pipe out of damson wood. Anyone who has any experience with a damson wood pipe, I am curious as to how it smokes. The eventula owner of the pipe said that it was a pretty good smoke.

A good read for the beginner.
A friend of mine carves in a number of hardwoods, particularly Boxwood and Osage Orange (aka Hedge).
