Does this look like a deep ring grain or something more severe (saw this on fleabay)-- current auction #
325725112818

Note/Disclaimer - I'm looking at the 2nd photo and on an unrelated matter, I'm not the seller and have no relation with them. Sorry-im not very "savvy" with photos and importing or copying them.

It's hard to tell from the photo (after lightening and blowing it up). You might want to email the seller and ask for a photo from a different angle.

Thank you, @warren99 . Seller assures there's no crack. But darn, that's one long deep grain line or blast crevice that runs down and across the stem 🤔. It's my birth year and compelling 'cause of that, to me. Happily, thnx to the kind Aussie Gent, @OzPiper , I found my first birth year Dunny at Steve's in Canada (reborn pipes) -- a pretty poker 😀

Thnx for taking a look
kindly

Not a crack. Sometimes, looks like that, briar, she does.

Quite a nice piece, actually. A better than average specimen at the time it was made, and the condition today is outstanding. I don't mean because of low usage (literally unsmoked? can't tell) & lack of damage, either, but because it hasn't been fuc--- um, I mean restored by someone with a 500 horsepower 50,000 rpm buffer, then dipped in a bucket of SuperGleamUltraShine fiberglass boat hull sealer.

If it's your year, OP, I'd say grab it if you can afford it. The odds of something nicer coming along anytime soon are very low.

Endorsements of vintage Dunhills don’t get much batter than that. If Mr. Dibos says it’s a winner you’d better take that to the bank.

It is a sharp looking pipe.

Found an early early MLC that must have went thru the repair shop you speak of George. Damn shame, I hope the next owner has some skills.

I read this & initially thought, "I get the crack pipe smoker photo above, but who the hell is hunter?" And reread it twice before I got it. LOL. LAS is life after stroke 😆

Thnx 😊
