We're fortunate enough to have home grown rhubarb also. My wife made a killer rhubarb cake recently and up next is a crisp or pie, either of which is fine by me.
Dad's home made Rhubarb pie was always a Sunday highlight when Rhubarb was in season. Actually, he used to make two at a time because only Dad and I could eat one which had very little sugar in it; the rest of the family had the other one which we found far to sweet.
Perhaps I should explain that Dad and I would also eat Gooseberries straight off the bush; I was the only member of the family who would touch one of his Gooseberry Pies.

Love me some rhubarb. We had it growing in the garden as a kid. We would go pull a stalk, dip it in sugar, and eat it fresh/raw!
Indeed. We are eyeballs deep in rhubarb right now. No strawberries though, so we do store bought. Pies first, then all the jelly we can make. Great stuff.
Nothing goes better than an oldfashioned, homemade, not too sweet gooseberry jam.

Several years ago we were checking out at the local grocery store. When the checker got to the bundle of rhubarb she was puzzled and asked if it was red celery.

Awesome! Favorite dish as a kid, homemade, hot out of the oven. Maybe a scoop of Vanilla ice cream. Now drooling, don't think I can find locally.
