Peterson's My Mixture 965

I never do tobacco reviews, well, mostly because I only smoke MM965. I stopped at JB Hayes today in Winchester VA and he had the new Peterson production (which the shop owner said was oddly somewhat restricted in quantity).

The blend looks like, smells like and smokes just like the previous STG product. The tin lid was sealed tighter than I remember. It looks like the cardboard divider has been changed.

They had a lot of Esoterica blends, but no Penzance...

Jonathan was just opening his shipment of Mark Tinsky Christmas pipes, they look great! JB Hayes was the shop where Mark first started selling his Christmas pipe, so that is fitting.

Just for fun, two early APC pipes sold at J.B. Hayes,



Both of these pipes were made by Mark Tinsky in 1989. They are marked the way other ASP pipes were marked during this period, with the Calabash REG.No 3-89/MT 1, and the Freehand REG.No. 8/89-MT 1. The 1 was the price $100. Both pipes have Lucite stems. The Calabash is marked JBH-50 1, the 1 being in the same font as the 1 in the APC mark, so JBH-50, which I'm assuming is the 50th APC pipe sold at J.B. Hayes, or an inventory mark. From the listings, it sounded like the ebay seller himself had bought these two at J.B.Hayes. One bid wonders from ebay in 2014.

Great examples Dave! I sure miss the original JB Hayes in Sterling VA. John Hayes is now retired living on the Potomac River in Harpers Ferry. Wish that I had more time to spend at the Winchester shop (which is right off I81 in Winchester) The 965 is smoking quite well, blindfolded, I could never tell any difference. I give it a thumbs up! Ignore my wife's patio plants in the background, which keeps poking me in the head!

Thanks for the thumbs up. Of course it should be identical, but you cen never be sure. Good to get the thumbs up from a guy who 'only smokes MM965'!

I've had my eye out for one of those Tinsky Christmas pipes in a tan blast to match my bulldog by him.

Glad to hear about the 965. There have been lots of changes in the industry, but it's nice to hear when something stays the same. Well, changed... but the same.
