Dropped into an antique store on the way home from work and I found this.

It was pretty clean. I just used a magic eraser to remove the stem oxidation. My first Peterson pipe. I think it's a prince shape.

I think it was a good deal for $10.

Great find!
The P in the stem looks odd (but good). Perhaps the white insert fell?

Yep, the 406 is an iconic Peterson Prince shape - and the Deluxe a nice step up the grade ladder! I have a 406 on my wish list, they are super common, so nice find! I love rooting around antique/junk stores - you never know what will turn up.

Sweet!
Really really good score there.
Congrats.
The grain looks fabulous,

a great crosscut and I love how the grain goes all the way down the shank,

and the angle of grain lends the appearance of motion, making it look like the pipe is screaming thru the atmosphere like a falling star.
Enjoy thee well.
Jolly Smoggo!

WOW! Great deal and a wonderful looking smoker! Not that I really care, but I bet that baby will clean up like new.

For me, once I'd cleaned its guts I'd be smoking that baby.

It says "Made in Republic of Ireland". It smoked great last night. I loaded it up with Peterson's Irish Oak, all was good through the first half of the bowl. The second half turned a little bitter and musty tasting, but that's normal with these old pipes that haven't been smoked in ages. I figure 3 or 4 bowls of Carter Hall should do the trick. The P-lip is a little different than what I am used to but I really like it! In regards to the "P" on the stem. The stem was very oxididized, I tried to be easy around the P but the magic eraser took what was left of the paint out of it. It was a gold color but I am assuming that was due to age and it was white at some point. I guess I can put a little dab back in there. But HEY! I'm gonna smoke this thing and that doesn't effect it. Oh and it has some kind of screw in stinger in the stem.

If it doesn't clear up I will probably go that route voorhees. I smoked a lakeland ghost out with some Carter Hall on one of my estates, I'm a patient man and Carter Hall is cheap :D.
@misterlowercase You sir, should be a poet. When I looked at the grain I thought "Hey, thats purrdy. Looks like flame.. flame means fire, where there is fire... lets smoke this thing!"
