Peterson System Giant - Massive!

Mark's Peterson Pipe Notes featured a massive Peterson System this AM, from 1907. This is the largest Peterson I've seen.

Meh, it ain't bad. That P-lip would have to be sanded down though, the briar would have to be sandblasted, and system pipes are too much cleaning upkeep.

Where does one look to buy a "Magnum" or "Giant" Peterson or even a vintage 01 ??? I've never seen them on Ebay or SP.com Just curious ...

I suspect even these days, some high end pieces get sold directly from collector to collector.

That's quite a gorgeous pipe! I'd bet dollars to donuts that it was created to head a window display. I have a Barling from 1910 with similar dimensions.

I recently received images of a 1925 British pipe exhibition with various pavilions set up to display the products of that manufacturer. Here's an image of the Barling pavilion. Notice the giant pipes hung above the other normal pipes.

Looking at it, that's about the size of my big meerschaums. I wasn't kidding when I said that I preferred them as large as a soda can.
