I have the above referenced pipe and have owned it since the 1980’s. I never see it appear in posts, but I see lots of 80S’s. Is this rare? Is it a bent bulldog or Rhodesian? It has a small chamber but a very wide bowl with thick walls. Great smoker! Any thoughts?

I love the 81, a shape that isn't seen often. The stylized Pete bulldogs, to me, are very distinctive (B5, etc.)

I little about the deceptive XL designation, from Jim Lilley's old blog.

Thanks! My pipe has a fairly moderate chamber but a large outer dimension. It feels really good in the hand, and gives a cool smoke.

XL81S, I have one, a spigot bought in Dublin years ago.
It is still unsmoked - I think the shape is rare.
