Im assuming your considering a mr brog. I dont own one personally, but everyone who does loves them. I want to get one one day, but with recent developments, im not buying anything in the near future.

I have 5 of them from Mr. Brog, only 1 is Briar and that is the hard to get #66. They all smoke extremely well, out doing many $100.00 plus pipes! You just cannot go wrong with a Mr. Brogs offer. You get the equivilant of $100.00-$200.00 dollar smoke for $20.00-$50.00.
It is a toss up whether I get a better smoke out of my #52 Scoot, #16 Churchwarden or #66 Briar.

I purchased a few pipes by F.e.e.s from China. They were bad news and some were made of pear wood and some other plastic materials. I would avoid them in any way but Mr.Brog seem to get good reviews although I don't own one. From experience I would say always choose thicker walls, deeper bowls for a superior smoking moment!
