When making a buy on the Bay, I try to follow good advise about multiple quality photos, measurements. Only one non closeup was shown without specks but I recognized the maker and the price was reasonable. When receiving same it was a a huge pipe 3 “ tall, 7” long, 3” wide, 1/2 thick wall. My first reaction was to use it as a paper weight but it turned out to be a great smoker. I even kidded the seller that he should have sold it by the ounc. The shank cutouts made for a great finger hold.B1786FF3-57E3-4E0E-B1C6-D0D5EAAAE32B.jpeg418F5CAE-6731-495A-BFDE-D4B957D3FC61.jpeg40601729-8C54-4696-8BC5-41E97E12FF49.jpeg

May I ask, who is the Carver? It’s a very nice looking pipe.
I hope it smokes like a dream!
Congrats!
Maker was David Kalnitz who only made a few pipes while working part time at his fathers B&M in w. N Y.
His father and grandfather are master little known makers that run very busy shops and only make about 50 pipes a year. See pipedia for good wright up under Brian Kalnitz.
