When to a local antique mall today and picked up this meerschaum for $25 dollars. The case says Genuine meerschaum block and has a kaywoodie logo on the inside of the case. The pipe its self has no marks or logo. I looked online and all the meerschaum kaywoodies I found had a black stem with a stinger and the kaywoodie logo. So does anybody know anything about this or a way to tell if it's a real kaywoodie or if its justp the case and anyway to maybe date it. Thanks in advance for any and all help.

So I've started to clean it up to smoke today but the tenon is suck in the pipe. The stem will unscrew from it but the tenon wont budge. When this happens to my brair or cob pipes I just toss it in the freezer for awhile then it comes out. Can I do this meerschaum as well or is that a bad idea?

With very old meerschaums I have and get, I always start counterclockwise for that very problem. And some old ones that is all you can do since the fittings may be different.i I do what I can do to keep my meerschaums happy. :D enjoy your new but old meer.

Could be a bone tenon. If so it's best to leave it in the pipe and disassemble the pipe as little as possible. If you wish it can be converted to a more modern push-pull tenon. A picture would help.

It looks to me that it is glued to meer part. I wouldn't try any more force than you already did. I don't know much about kaywoodies, but I am sure somebody around here does, so be patient for the right advice, otherwise you may regret it later. It's a charming looking pipe, judging by the coloring of the meer it doesn't look that it was that much smoked either.
