I have a book somewhere (Ill try and did it out so I can give you a reference) that says pear-wood tongs were used/still are used in Glass Foundaries specialising in finer products. The pear-wood has a very high combustion level, and is a very poor conducter of heat. Presumably is it is a hard wood (not catagorically, but rather physically) and dense, so I imagine you would need to let it rest for longer as it is less obsorbent?

Have smoked Olive and Pear myself, both seemed to be fine. Mr. Brogs are WONDERFUL. Don’t have any experience with the other woods listed.
