@BingBong you're the only person I can think might be able to remember, did Rattray's of Perth ever sell such blends or were the current production all invented by Kopp?
I can't honestly remember; I don't think I ever dabbled in a "house" blend, I was more a fancy cigarette buyer there anyway.

I think they did create blends with those names but not the current compositions.

If you search “Rattrays Booklet on Tobacco Blending” you will find an old booklet written by Charles Rattray. In it he talks about Old Gowrie, Brown Clunee and HotW. From the descriptions they sound like they were straight virginias (perhaps more akin to Samuel Gawith offerings). So it is possible that K&K changed the blends adding other tobaccos and sugars. But I can’t say for certain. However, the one tobacco that is absent is Marlin Flake - my absolute fave. So again, I don’t know if that was an “original” or if it was added to the line by K&K.

I'm about halfway through my tin of Old Gowrie and it's a pleasure. However, for my palate at this "moment in time" (© James Burke), the trio are judged thus:

1. Hal O The Wynd
2. Brown Clunee
3. Old Gowrie

As for Marlin Flake, non grata.
