I've been on this kick of restoring old damaged pipes, some are small repairs, while others total wrecks. This old BBB Thorneycroft bulldog wasn't too bad, not a lot of cake, but had a crack in the shank and the stem was heavily oxidized. It looks like the shank had a repair band on it at one time but it wasn't done very well as it must have fallen off. I bought this pipe mainly because of the great blast on it, really deep and craggy. The fit of the stem was kind of iffy, but I managed to get it back pretty good, and the shank glued up fairly well as I clamped it after using some Wood Weld epoxy. I'm not sure of the age of the pipe. I would think it to be a 1950's pipe, but that deep sandblast looks like something earlier. All in all a nice old pipe that I'm finding smokes quite well with a little Black Frigate.
