A delightful idea for a thread--thank you mikethompson! At least from what I've seen on Ebay in recent months, I suspect Dunhill is going to be the hands down winner for incinerated, well-chewed wrecks covered in fowl smelling filth presented as rare collectibles in auctions with ludicrously high opening bids, or let us say optimistic buy-it-now prices.

My own favorite is this sad case, a dark root 1936 pot missing its stem:

Of course what makes it potentially interesting--at least for a master restorer such as georged--is that it appears to have a Vernon tenon with all four of its prongs that might be salvaged to repair another pipe. This even if this one is both stemless and totally toast.

I thought it might be interesting to have a thread where we could post up some pics of ads / listings / auctions that just make you scratch your head.

Case in point,

That's a lot of coin for a dead pipe IMO

But the white dot is still visible, that alone should be worth at least $1,000 premium...that's what they upcharge their new pipes for the white dot.

You wonder how destroyed a pipe would be before no one would try to sell it. Put it on the railroad track? Tie it to a stick of dynamite? Flatten it with a sledgehammer? Someone would sweep together the leavings and require $85. Or Dunhill somewhat more.
