Not Sure if anyone can help but going through my late fathers bit and I found this and not sure if it is a pipe or just something you put on the mantl

Some of these Tyrolean pipes were made to be decorative souvenirs, some were made to be smoked.

Does it look like there is any residue in the bowl?

the question isn't if it's smokes, the question is if it smokes in a manner that will be enjoyable. Very low chance of that. Though it looks cool and worth trying out but with low expectations.

I've also heard porcelain smokes really hot. Like tongue bite even with mellow sipping.

That's a real man's pipe. It smoked so bad most were force to smoke cigarettes. But those few who could withstand the pipe, carried on. Maybe that's why German lost, twice.
