What is meant by, “nicotine hit”
I believe it refers to the buzz or feeling of the effect of the nicotine. Some tobaccos are very mild in nicotine and some very strong. Some smoke for effect, some, just for the tobacco flavor but you get nicotine from all tobacco.
And a lot of nicotine addicts are in total denial about it too.
I find this amusing especially on a pipe forum🙃

It certainly is possible to become nicotine addicted smoking a pipe, though it depends how you smoke a pipe.

Plenty of people smoke an occasional cigar and have no addiction to nicotine in the same way a lot of people can enjoy a glass of wine or a beer or two without being or becoming an alcoholic.

Smoke 3-4 bowls a day, you stand a good chance of developing an addiction to nicotine. Once every other day? Possibly if you have a genetic predisposition to addiction, but far less likely to develop an addiction. Though some people act as if you must be addicted to nicotine and inherently will be just on one bowl a week and that anyone that ever uses or enjoys nicotine in any amount is inherently addicted and in denial.

"Nicotine hit" is deceptive. Some people that smoke cigarettes and want to switch to a pipe "for health reasons"—not open to debating about this, yes a pipe is unhealthy, yes in some ways it is less unhealthy than cigarettes, regardless, some people do switch for that stated reason regardless of how much less harmful pipe actually is, it's a thing people do and that's what this is about—will be looking for a "nic hit" and be disappointed.

A pipe "nic hit" is vastly different than one from a cigarette. So, you have to pay attention when people talk about a nic hit with pipe tobacco if you're coming from the perspective of cigarettes. Pipe nic hits are more like, they creep up on you or they can come on suddenly, but it's less like a cigarette "ah" sharp punch or scratching an itch and more like a "wah-wah" whippit hit or something, like "ok, let me sit down a minute". You'll feel it and you'll know if you experience one, and whether you do or not depends on your tolerance and what you're having... no tolerance and smoke rustica like you would any other and you could skip over having a nic hit and it can creep up like a silent freight train and lay you out.

I have tried almost all forms of nicotine and love them all. I have also quit many different forms of tobacco in the past. But the nicotine has been flowing since day one, 19 years ago. I don't remember a single day i haven't had nicotine since my first cigarette.

So yes im addicted. And I no longer worry about it.

Piping is definitely the most expensive per mg of nicotine method of nicotine delivery, but and because it’s the most interesting.

When I smoked cigs, I never went in the gas station and got a carton of my usual, two packs each of a few brands I haven’t tried, and made sure I had at least a few packs of brands I’ve tried and kind of like when I was in the mood for them😉

I am saving money through, I could’ve grown an interest (and dependence) on high end cigars…

I'm not a nicotene addict.

I'm a nicotene junky.
I never smoked cigarettes regularly, but dip almost around the clock.
Ive never noticed a "nic hit" from pipe tobacco due to my advanced use of smokeless tobacco.
And I have all my teeth except the one I knocked out dirt biking decades ago.....and lucky for me it was a front one. :(

Addict, junky, these are just frowned down upon terms. Try the word connoisseur and now you are a gentleman.

Odd, I've always thought of it as one of the least expensive, unless all you smoke is cutter tops and Ivarssons 😁
I'd interpreted it as, "The amount of nicotine you absorb" vs "The amount of tobacco you pay for".

It may be that while the 'baccy itself is largely more economical for pipe, you're getting less nicotine-per-dollar (assuming one isn't inhaling)? I don't know, I didn't do the math.

Nic hit is great. I’m predisposed to nicotine addiction and pipes have absolutely brought it back to me after quitting a half can a day dipping habit 10 years ago. The pipe is definitely the cheapest way to achieve it that I have found. It’s also easier to moderate if it hits too hard—just put the pipe down and come back to it after a couple hours and a couple glasses of water.

I will say that, when traveling, pipe smoking can be difficult, so I keep some Zyn around so I don’t get twitchy and grumpy. I still definitely get a mild and delightful head rush within a few minutes of putting a pouch between my cheek and gum. The pipe is more pleasurable though!!

For me it is a buzz like feeling I get from smoking blends higher in nicotine content. It’s very relaxing. I have a relatively high nicotine tolerance so not all blends give me this feeling. I also get the feeling quicker if I haven’t had anything to eat for a while. I’ve only been nicotine sick a couple of times and don’t wish it on anybody. I’ve learned how to moderate this and know when I am getting close.
