Title edited. See Rule 9

Hello,
I'm retired now. I've used tobacco in some form since 1969 after boot camp. Chewed it, rolled my own, ready rolls, and pipes.
I quit over the years on several occasions due to work place, or simply social outcast. I bought my first pipe in 1975. I've accumulated or inherited a few more over the years. I now only smoke a pipe. I'm a novice regarding the several various types of tobacco so I'm hoping I can listen in on the forum conversations and learn something.

Yes, I have stopped by there on occasions. Great place. I also order online from there. Since I reside between Birmingham and Montgomery AL, I shop at the Prattville Cigar Company as well. My grandfather grew three or four rows of tobacco right along with our kitchen garden yearly. He twisted it and chewed, rolled it and smoked it or pipe. So I suppose many in our southern culture did the same.

Thanks to all for their individual greets. Now that I'm transitioning to pipe smoking I am over whelmed at the choices. When I look at the tobacco tins wall at my local smoke shop the choices are many and with all the different cuts, and flavors, and types. How about an aeromatic or not?, flake cut or ribbon or other? Huh?
Is there a link to explain these choices, types etc.? Otherwise one could spend a considerable amount of funds to figure things out. I get that to each is own, and maybe half the fun is trying out differences, but now that I'm in the market we've come along way from Prince Albert.

Hey, fellow Alabamian. We seem to have a lot of pipe guys from our state. You have dropped by the Briary in Homewood, right? If not, better schedule a trip. It is one of the largest high end pipe shops with a huge selection of tobaccos in the country.
If you're in B'ham, we've started up a new pipe club; Central Alabama Pipe Club. We meet the second Saturday of the month at the Briary. Skip has been gracious enough to let us use it and opens that one Saturday to accommodate us.

Check us out on Facebook: Central Alabama Pipe Club
